Château Trapaud
AOC Saint-Émilion Grand Cru BIO
OriginsThe origins of this area date back to the 16th century. A certain Pierre Trapaud moved to the Saint-Emilion area to work as a notary
and became a town councillor in 1556. His name is listed in the land registry at this date. The property was bought by
Pierre Larribière in 1927. The vineyards were extended and the cellars modernised over the generations. In 1999, Béatrice Larribière, Pierre's great-granddaughter, took over the family winery. She strives to continue its development while respecting the winemaking practices and the work of her ancestors. She has made a long series of technical and functional improvements. She pays close attention to the land, the human labour and her environment and in 2009 made the decision to switch to organic production. Today the winery manages 15 hectares of adjacent vineyards. The vines have an average age of 45 years and some vines are over 100 years old. They are planted in clay-limestone and sandy loam soils. The former provide more concentrated wines, while the latter give intense colour and a lighter style. The vineyards are planted mainly with Merlot (70%), as well as Cabernet Franc (20%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%).
