Benefits

Blueberries are recognised for their many health benefits, particularly for the eyes. Furthermore, they are said to strengthen the walls of capillaries and reduce their permeability, which is thought to give them certain anti-haemorrhagic properties. They are also said to have astringent, antiseptic and anti-putrefactive properties for the intestines. They are believed to possess antioxidant properties.
(These properties attributed to each of these fruits have been recognised for generations but are not a substitute for treatment prescribed by a healthcare professional.)
It is said that during the Second World War, Royal Air Force pilots greatly improved their night vision by eating blueberries… which soon became part of their daily ration!
